Star Wars: The Old Republic

Wow, that’s all i can actually say about this game, and not in a bad way at all. This game has simply blown me away since i was in the beta about a month and a half ago and it just keeps getting better and better the more i play it and the more that they keep rolling out patches and people get on. I had high expectations from the start with game simply because i am an enormous star wars fan. Its just plain flat out fun and thats the best way to put it. Gone are the weary droning of grinding on and on for hours on end and being bored out of your mind while doing it. Right now the only thing really missing is having custom ui’s but im sure all in due time things of the normal mmo nature will become available. I haven’t had any real problems with the game as of this time of writing.  No random crashes or anything of that sort. Everything from top to bottom you can tell that there was a massive amount of thought, work and detail put into. Just watch the opening cinematic and you’ll already feel it sucking you in and making you want to play it with how epic the story for your characters storyline can be.

Which brings me the beginning of the whole story. Even simply just picking a faction, rebels or the galactic empire, you can tell right from the get go just how awesome it will be. Once you have gone and chosen a side for you character to start on it begins by playing a elaborate movie for that faction just to immerse yourself into the battles that you are about to be taking part in. After that is done it brings you to the character creation screen in which you get to pick from the four basic classes for either side. From there each class ends up splitting into 2 classes that you pick from at level to decide what your character is for the remainder of the game. Also on top of that, there are 3 skill trees for each of those 2 class

the game is simply amazing, and for another good talk about the beginning worlds and some of the classes and what its all like you can listen to the podcast joystiq had, it was a round table discussion about the game.

So lately I have been getting back into PC gaming, first it started off with me getting a half decent tower back in Jan, and slowly I’ve been getting back to the grind(bad pun). Just recently though i have now installed a way beefier PSU, which is 850 watts, 70A @ 12v, and has tons of connections, which is good for expansion. Next up  I bought a new graphics card, which is a Sapphire ati  Radeon 6870 1gb card, which i must say is friggin amazing. Next stuff that i’ll probably end up getting , which i have no idea in what order this will be, is more ram  that i will probably go to 8gb with maybe more depends on whats on the horizon, new sandy bridge mobo, and a new cpu. I will probably go and do the Mobo and CPU first so that way i know exactly what type of ram is supported. But anywho, the pc games i have been playing so far as of recent are Dungeon Siege 3, Crysis 2 (trying out the graphics card, so far eveerything is smooth sailing @ 1920 x 1080 with all the settings maxed out, just beat amnesia which is a totally awesome game that i recommend to everyone, Fear 3, and i reinstalled COD4 just for the hell of it to play all the way maxed out and because it was an awesome game. Other then that  I have been testing out some great HD movies on the new card like Sucker Punch, and not to mention of course plenty of Anime. Any recommendations for anything let me know!

No it’s not from watching a boat load of Dr.who either. Because I want to skip through june and get to the end of july for otakon to come by. Though i do know even though it seems like its a million years away at this point, that before i know it that it will sneak up on me and be the next day. I just cant wait for them to start releasing more information about the scheduling and who will be there and everything. Also im bringing a friend of mine that has never been to a con, so that makes it double exciting. Lots of time will be spent in the exhibit hall im sure along with artist alley. I will be covering things for Animesecrets.org there and I will make sure to post the articles that i write there over here as well. Im sure there are panels you guys will want me to make it to and cover and i’ll make sure i can cover as much as i can and hopefully get a good deal of pictures too.

Abundance

April 25, 2011 Leave a comment

As the title states i have an abundance of things to entertain myself with lately. At the same time though it seems like it gets to the point to where i feel like I am super saturated with all the options for things to do that i end up not doing anything because i spend a huge chunk of the time just trying to figure out which of the options i feel like choosing. It has gotten to the point to where i haven’t been able to even finish the Series from last season that i was watching the new ones. The only benefit to this is that being a few weeks behind, if there is ever that super big cliffhanger etc, i’ll be able to catch the episode that finishes it. Unless of course I end up getting so into it all that i get up to date on all of them right off the bat haha. It is more then anime itself that is causing it, it is the sudden influx of movies and games, and not to mention playoff hockey and being stuck at work alot that end up causing all of this to be happening. Figure I just got 3 games in the past like week, on top of already playing nhl a ton. Not to mention I should be playing a bunch of halo reach since i am supposed to test it. But, on my day off today i feel like i am going to try to finish at least a couple of series, or so I hope. So many options, so little time!

So after someone told me that Fractale was very similar to Last Exile I just had to go and pick it up, since i love that series, and im almost current on all the series im watching at the moment. This is good because it will give me time to go and Finally finish a couple of the older things that i have really been meaning to get around to. Here’s looking at you Clannad: After Story. There are others but that is the one at the top of the list. Other ones are like working!! and getting caught up on Gintama. I used to watch the usual staples ages ago ( Naruto, Bleach) but after numerous cuts into it with filler and what not i lost track and fell off of them, once they have a steady stream of back to the manga then maybe ill try to rewatch them, which also reminds me that i need to go and catch up on alot of manga haha.

In other news, incase if you have been wondering where my Homefront review has been, I haven’t written it for the sole fact of how broke the game is and i don’t want to write a review on it until it’s working solid enough. Also, i bought the Halo: Reach defiant map pack and i must say that they were very well made and i have been enjoying them thoroughly. Other then that there hasn’t been much gaming news for me to get my hands on except for a couple new trailers, for things such as the new resident evil game which reminds me sort’ve like Left 4 dead.

On a side not, I’m not going to chance losing all my stuff on my phone so that i can get the leaked gingerbread on it (even though it damn near looks like an official build). If the leak looks that good it can only mean that the real deal should be pushed out shortly :)

Homefront

**Update** Apparently they are working on not one, but two patches at the same time for the game. First patch is mainly for fixing the freezing issues that it has been having, and the second patch is supposed to be for fixing the multiplayer’s various problems (not being able to play with an xbox live party, error creating a beacon etc) more info on what the patches are fixing can be found here http://www.homefront-game.com/blog-post/homefront-update-status

oh Homefront, how i want to love you and want to play you more but you sit there and keep making me want to play other games, or currently in the state you are in, force me to play other games. For those of you that dont know Homefront was a new IP FPS release on March 15th from THQ/KAOS. Though the concepts of the game are solid, it has been plagued with issues since release day and just now are getting fixed bit by bit. Not so much simple issues like achievements not getting rewarded or anything like that, though some people have reported not being able to play the single player over various issues. No, all the major problems are based upon the multiplayer and odd things that really shouldn’t have been there to affect the game in the first place. I’ll write a more indepth total review in the coming day or so, so that i can point out the good and bads about it. It’s a very good concept and everything, just stupid little things that are holding the game down.

I feel its neccesary…

To say that I am in love with Dr.Who. Seeing as how good i think this 9th Doctor season, 2005 is, i sure hope that the other doctors will be just as good! I’ve seen all that talk about Tennant as the Doctor after him, so he must be good. Though this is the type of show when it comes to multiple protagonist changes like this that each Doctor will end up having it’s good and its bad moments and it will have people that like it and people that don’t like it either. I also like the style and pacing of the story telling in the series so far. It doesn’t constantly leave you there wondering why things are happening in the show for. The only downside to loving Dr.Who so much is that it’s taking all my time away from anime, manga, and my pc and console games. Damn you for being so addicting!

Oh hai

Well seeing as i haven’t posted anything since June i figured i should at least start somewhere. As you can see I’ve already done a revamp of the site aesthetically (which I’ll probably do more changes to later, or even do it all from scratch) Other things include getting a new computer since my laptop broke, and just the other day i also went and picked up a new netbook so i’m sure you will be hearing from me more often now :D . What happened with the laptop wasnt anything severe which is good, all that broke was the compact cfl bulb burned out, so therefore the screen had no light source. Bought 2 bulbs to try and fix it with but to no avail since both of them snapped in half. So thankfully all i had to do was take the things I wanted to keep and pop them onto the external HDD’s and then transfer them into the new tower.

Also, I’ve been playing some of the newer games of course, the staples. Such as Black Ops, Halo:Reach, Nhl 11. Recent games that I’ve gotten around to finishing are Metro 2033, Dead Space 2, BulletStorm, Bioshock (yes it took me a while to get around to playing it lol) Need For Speed Hot Pursuit, Dragon Age, and Borderlands.  Since i have a better computer now it makes mroe games accessible, especially ones i would rather play on a computer such as dragon age and borderlands. Still working on the lara croft guardian of light game and Amnesia though (which creeps the hell out of me!)

Now switching gears, I’m getting back around to finally watching anime (been far to busy with work/games/etc as you can tell) I picked up 5 series from the new season. Gosick, Infinite Stratos, Kore wa Zombie desu ka?, Rainbow Rio Gate and Yumekui Merry. I’m sure you will tell me to go and check things like madoka, freezing, fractle etc, which is fine since im open to suggestions. Also have to get around to finishing up a few older series to such as Clannad After Story, and Working!. Still Continuing on with Bleach, Naruto, Gintama ( though i havent seen recent eps of them and have a bunch of the manga to catch up on) Oh and last but not least, I finally have started to watch Dr.Who after much speculation and debating, but after I got convinced by some friends, and found some decent quality episodes i decided to start. And before you ask, no i didn’t start from scratch, i went and started with the 9th Dr. I was told it was a solid enough starting point. So i hope you look forward to more updates since it should be easier for me to do now with a netbook and a smart phone :-p
